WILLIAM Z. ROLAND
Staff Sergeant William Z. Roland of Gainesville, FL graduated from Buchholz High School in 2003. While in High School, Roland completed four years of JROTC program.
In August 2003 Roland enlisted in the Air Force and went on to do his basic training at Lackland AFB- San Antonio, Texas. Upon completion of his basic training, Roland trained to become a Military Policeman. In 2004 Senior Airman Roland was transfered to the Security Force at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Staff Sergeant Roland deployed to Balad, Iraq in September 2008. This is Roland second tour to the middle east. His first tour of duty was in Kuwait, were he was assigned to Kuwait City International Airport. Senior Airman Roland re-enlisted for another 4 years. He took his oath while "outside the wire" in enemy territory. Zach as his mother calls him, returned to Las Vegas April 1, 2009.
Roland has been very busy since his return from Iraq. Zach has passed his Staff Sergeant exam with high scores. He will graduate October 15, 2009 from Staff Sergean Leadership School. Senior Airman Roland and his wife will be reassigned to Aviano, Italy in January 2010.
