BOBBY CADE
Specialist Bobby Cade of Gainesville, Florida graduated from Santa Fe High School and enlisted in the Army National Guard June 2005. Bobby is the grandson of legendary scientist, Doctor James Robert Cade, inventor of Gatorade.
Bobby went on to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for his 8 weeks of basic training. Upon completion of basic training, Bobby trained to become a Combat Engineer. Bobby then went on to be assigned to the D Company, 1st Battalion, 175th Infantry Regiment of the 58th Infantry Bridgade Combat Team of the Maryland National Guard.
Specialist Cade and his unit deployed to Iraq August 27, 2007. Bobby was assigned
FOB- Q- West, which is loacted 40 miles south of Mosel In a city called AL Qayyarah. The troops called this place Key West.
FOB Q-West is a former Saddamist Airfield that is now a hub for Convoy Activity for the Northern Bases. Specialist Cade duties are to provide Convoy Security. Asked what it was like to provide Convoy Security, Bobby said it was nerve racking. You just never know were the next ambush or IED would be denotated. Specialist Cade said on couple of occasions an IED was denotated and we suffered no casualties.
Bobby returned from Iraq in April 2008. Today Specialist Cade is a member of the Florida Army National Guard. When not activated he works part time as an air condition repairmen and attends school. Bobby said he will be deployed in January 2010 to the Middle East.
