Captain Jean V. Rubanick
Captain Jean V. Rubanick of Alachua, Florida is a Veterinarian assigned to Fort Eustis, Virginia. Captain Rubanick's primary responsibility is providing comprehensive medical and surgical care for Military Working Dogs (MWDs) and Coast Guard Dogs. Captain Rubanick's other duties are preventive medical care for privately owned animals (including horses) belonging to servicemen, their dependents, retirees, and overseeing all programs directed at the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases.
One of the important duties of an Army Veterinarian is to provide Food Safety Inspections of Military Facilities (i.e. commissary, shoppettes, dining facilities, ect) and commercial sanitary audits.
In addition to Fort Eustis, Captain Rubanick is also responsible for providing veterinary services for the following installations: Langley Air Force Base, Fort Monroe, Yorktown Naval Weapons Station, Cheetham Annex and Gloucester/Newport News Shipyards.
As for now, Captain Rubanick has a three year tour of duty which will end sometime 2010. Jean says anything could happen between now and then. Captain Rubanick's tour of duty at Fort Eustis will end June or July 2009. Her next assignment is AVIANO AIR FORCE BASE, ITALY.
Jean's goal is to be a large animal veterinarian when she leaves the military.
